In the northern regions of India, there is a forest known for its vastness and terrifying stories. This forest is called Kali Jungle. Many people fear going there even in broad daylight, and they don't even think about approaching it at night. In the middle of this jungle stands a forest ranger tower, which has been abandoned and desolate for many years.
This is the story of a young forest ranger who was assigned duty at this tower. I thought working in forests was a simple responsibility, but I didn’t know what challenges I would face in Kali Jungle. My name is Harris, and I am a forest officer. I want to share a story with you. A few years ago, I was posted in Kali Jungle. Before this, I had served in many forests. I had heard many stories about this jungle, claiming that there are jinns and witches here. I didn’t really believe in them. I know such beings exist, but they don’t always reveal themselves. That’s what I believed.
This jungle is famous for its dense trees, hilly paths, and natural beauty, but it’s also known for its eerie and terrifying stories. Now, let’s move to the story.
When I first arrived at the tower, everything seemed normal. It was daytime and the winter season. There was an odd silence, as you know, it gets very cold in the northern regions. Due to the cold, I felt like having tea, so I started making tea for myself. There was no one around the tower, and no sounds of animals could be heard.
I went up to the tower’s roof to enjoy my tea and the cold. After drinking my tea, I came down and started checking the jungle as night began to fall. Suddenly, I saw a light far away, flickering in the middle of the jungle. I thought it might be another ranger or an officer coming to the jungle. But as the night deepened, the light seemed to come closer, and with it, a strange cold increased. Then suddenly, the light vanished into some bushes. After searching for a while, I couldn’t find it anymore.
I used my walkie-talkie to contact headquarters and asked if any officers had come here. They told me no officers had arrived. I mentioned the light I saw disappearing into the bushes. They suggested it might have been a local. After disconnecting the call, I heard footsteps coming from below the tower. I looked down but saw no one. The footsteps grew louder, accompanied by a cold breeze.
I thought I would go down and check if someone was cutting trees or something. So, I put on my shoes, took my gun and torch, and went down. As soon as I reached the ground, I saw a shadow running quickly into the bushes. I called out, asking who was there and threatening to shoot if they didn’t come out. But then, complete silence fell. I flashed my torch around, but there was no one. I checked the surrounding area but found no signs of anything. So, I went back to the tower.
I was hungry, so I warmed up some food and started eating. Then I set an alarm for an hour and went to sleep. We have to check every hour to see if there is a fire in the jungle or any other issues. I woke up every hour and checked, and everything was fine. But in the middle of the night, I heard a terrifying scream. It was so horrifying that it shook me to my core. I took my torch and went down from the tower.
When I reached the ground, I saw the same shadow running towards the bushes. I mustered up my courage and started following the shadow. In the darkness of the jungle, the shadow looked even more mysterious and frightening, but it was very faint, and it looked almost human. I saw the shadow hiding behind a tree. As I shone my torch on the tree, I felt someone standing behind me.
When I turned around, I saw a woman dressed in white standing there. Her face was blurred and her eyes were empty. Her appearance was extremely frightening. At that moment, I didn’t have the courage to shine my torch on her face. I was terrified, even though I had never been afraid of such things before.
I tried to back away but found myself frozen. She grabbed my hand, pulled me closer, and said in a cold voice, “This jungle is ours. No strangers can come here. Leave, or you will be killed.” Then, I heard someone laughing behind me, a completely human laugh. When I looked back, there was no one. And when I looked back at the woman, she was gone.
I felt like I was dreaming or that this was all in my head. I pulled myself together and started heading back to the tower. Even on the way back, I felt strange vibes as if someone was walking alongside me. I ignored it and reached the tower, where I refreshed myself with water and thought about what had just happened. I was unsure if it was a hallucination or reality. I fell asleep without knowing when.
When I woke up, it was morning. The day passed normally with no activity, and the incident of the night faded from my mind. That was my biggest mistake—ignoring the warning. One day, while on the tower’s roof, I saw a strange bird. It was black, and its eyes were red. I had never seen anything like it before. It seemed like it was staring at me. I watched the bird closely, and it looked like it might attack me. Then the bird flew away. I thought it might also be a figment of my imagination, but the image of the bird stayed in my mind.
That night, I heard strange noises inside the tower. The sounds were like whispering. I inspected the tower but found no one. I thought it might be the wind, but the noises kept coming. Then, I had a horrifying dream. I saw myself wandering in the jungle while a terrifying shadow chased me. My legs felt like they had no strength, and they were very heavy. The shadow came closer, and I woke up terrified, drenched in sweat.
When I looked at the door, I was terrified because it was slightly open. Although I always lock the door before sleeping, I saw two eyes burning like fire through the open door. I gathered my courage, grabbed my gun from under the pillow, and slowly approached the door. The gun was licensed, and as soon as I opened the door, it was pitch dark and silent, like your life was slipping away. But the eyes were gone. I locked the door and went back to bed.
I couldn’t sleep anymore, and strange things started happening every day. The next day, I saw strange footprints on the ground below the tower. They were human footprints but looked unusual. I followed the footprints, but they suddenly disappeared after a short distance. I was puzzled about whose footprints they could be and why they disappeared suddenly. I checked the area and found some blood droplets on the trees and bushes, but there were no dead animals or anything else. Seeing this, I was quite disturbed. When I couldn’t make sense of it, I went back to the tower.
It was after Zohar, and I was sitting on the roof. Although the light was soothing, the evening turned into night. I turned on my mobile torch and was heading into the room when I saw bloodstains on the tower wall. The stains were fresh, and a strange shape was formed on the wall. I was so frightened that I immediately moved away and informed my superiors about the strange occurrences. They told me that it’s the jungle, and being alone makes things feel eerie, and not to overthink it. I thought they might be right.
Then that night, something happened that I had never imagined. I was sitting in the room when suddenly I heard a sound like someone digging under the tower. I looked down but saw nothing. Although I was scared, I reassured myself that it might be an animal. But the sound didn’t seem like an animal digging. Moments later, I noticed the tower’s lights dimming as if some shadow was covering them. I checked the lights, but everything seemed fine. My heart was racing, and I felt someone around the tower, but I couldn’t understand what it was.
I looked out the window and saw a small wild animal coming towards me. I could see it moving through the trees and bushes. As it came closer, I noticed that the animal had human eyes, staring at me. Its gaze was so intense that I felt like I was being pulled towards it. I wanted to leave the tower, but I felt paralyzed, unable to move.
The animal came near the tower and disappeared into the darkness. I closed the window and was about to sleep when I heard the scratching noise from underneath the tower again. The scratching was getting louder and seemed to come from all directions. I felt like something was trying to break into the tower. I grabbed my gun and flashlight and went downstairs. The noise suddenly stopped. I checked everywhere but found nothing. I was completely terrified.
That night, I sat awake, and whenever I heard a sound, I immediately checked. Suddenly, I heard a loud banging noise from the tower’s roof. It was so loud that it felt like the tower would collapse. I rushed upstairs and saw nothing, but the noise was still coming from above. I climbed up to the roof and saw nothing but a dark sky. I looked around, but it was eerily silent.
After that, I noticed a strange figure watching me from the trees. It had glowing eyes and seemed to be following me wherever I went. The presence was so chilling that I felt like I was being watched all the time. My sleep was disturbed every night, and the nightmares continued. I tried to call for help, but there was no network in that area.
One night, I decided to leave the tower and seek help. As I was preparing to leave, I heard a voice whispering in my ear, “You can’t leave. You belong to the jungle now.” I turned around, but no one was there. I felt a cold breeze and saw shadows moving around me. My fear escalated, and I decided to stay put until morning.
Finally, the morning came, and I couldn’t wait to leave the jungle. I informed my superiors that I was leaving immediately. They were surprised but didn’t ask many questions. I packed my things and left the tower. As I was leaving, I saw the same shadowy figure from the previous nights watching me from the edge of the jungle. I quickly drove away and never returned to Kali Jungle.
This experience left me shaken, and I couldn’t explain what I had encountered. To this day, I avoid going near that jungle and advise others to do the same. Kali Jungle is not a place to take lightly, and the experiences I had there were beyond my imagination. I hope you enjoyed this story, and I urge you to stay safe and avoid such places if you can.
