I'm sharing a personal experience from Canada. We live in a small northern town in Alberta with about 600 to 700 residents. We moved here in 2012. The area has a valley-like geography with boreal forests, and it's known for oil production. Because of this, some people work in the oil industry, but there are concerns that the town might become a ghost town once the oil industry declines.
During COVID, we faced some challenges. Our area is surrounded by rivers and mountains, making it beautiful but also isolated. We often heard stories about strange happenings, but we didn’t pay much attention until 2020 when our house was flooded. We were forced to move into a hotel for about a month and then decided to look for a new place since we couldn’t return home for a year.
Finding a new home during COVID was tough because of lockdowns and high rental prices. However, we found a surprisingly affordable house in a nice neighborhood. After some delays due to strict lockdowns, we moved in September.
Once settled, my daughter, who was about 12, started complaining about seeing a woman in her closet. We thought she was imagining things, as kids often do, especially with horror movies. Meanwhile, we noticed items around the house disappearing and then reappearing in strange places.
My daughter’s behavior also changed; she became rude and unresponsive, which we initially attributed to teenage issues. She continued to insist that someone was in her room.
Things escalated during my youngest son's birthday. We got him a large balloon, but we started noticing it moving around the house on its own. We thought the kids were playing pranks, but it kept happening.
Eventually, my older son noticed strange noises in the house while we were out. He thought his younger brother was playing games loudly, but my youngest son insisted he was with me. We decided to investigate and set up a plan to address these unusual happenings.
One day, I noticed the attic door was mysteriously opened. This door is supposed to be sealed, and we couldn't understand how it happened. When we reported it to the property manager, they were surprised and checked for leaks. Everything seemed fine.
However, the attic door opened again while we were away, and we were advised to consider moving out because it wasn’t normal. We decided to ignore the strange occurrences, thinking they might just be quirks of the house.
As time passed, my youngest son reported seeing a lady coming out of the bathroom, describing her in a way similar to what my daughter had said before. This made me uncomfortable because I hadn’t shared my daughter’s experiences with him.
Overall, these experiences were unsettling, and we started to wonder about the house’s history and what might be causing these events.
